![]() Space EngineersĪssassinating Altman too late, EarthGov inadvertently turns him into a martyr, leading to the formation of the Church of Unitology, a cult that uses the Marker as a religious idol. Dubbed the “Marker”, the monolith begins causing violent psychoses in people near to it, prompting lead researcher Michael Altman to try and leak its existence. The former was resolved with “planet-cracker” spaceships, created to smash and harvest other planets for resources, and the latter with an investigation of a black alien monolith discovered in the Chicxulub crater, which emits a sourceless electromagnetic field. Teams take turns playing as the Titan Station Security Force (human team) Setting and Charactersĭuring the 23rd century, Earth’s population found themselves suffering resource and energy crises, causing world government EarthGov to begin research on solutions. Multiplayer is a 4 vs 4 multiplayer gamemode that consists of team-based matches, broken down into two rounds each. Taking on the roles of either a team of up to four Sprawl Security Officers or a pack of up to four Necromorph players, the Security Officer players must complete objectives, such as arming a powerful bomb, while the Necromorph players must attempt to stop them from completing their objectives. Dead Space 2 is the first game of the series to offer objective based competitive multiplayer. Also unlike the first game, chapters are not named in-game. The game is completely linear, with no tram stops or loading screens throughout the story. Like the first game, the primary enemies are the ‘Necromorphs’ heavily mutated human corpses. Players can now navigate zero-gravity environments in 360-degree motion, via a system of thrusters attached to Isaac’s RIG. Kinesis is now faster and now allows for impalement using pointed objects such as a Slasher’s blades, a mop, and poles. Players are now required to hack to access certain areas, which is managed via a minigame. The gameplay in Dead Space 2 is far more varied than in Dead Space. Following his nightmarish encounter on the USG Ishimura, former engineer Isaac Clarke arrives on the Sprawl, a civilian space station built on the remains of Saturn’s moon, Titan, which was broken into pieces in a planet-cracking operation. Unlike its predecessor, Dead Space 2 has a multiplayer mode, pitting human characters against necromorphs across the Sprawl. And now that the Dead Space remake has nailed the mark, both financially and with fans of the series, were hopeful that the developers see it fit to give us another fantastic remake.Set three years after the events of the first game, the game follows protagonist Isaac Clarke’s fight against a new necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl, a space station surrounding a shard of Saturn’s largest moon, Titan. While this isn't definitive evidence and could just as easily be the developers trying to create stronger ties between the first and second dead space games, it could also be a preemptive way to lay the groundwork for a sequel remake if the first did well. We've also seen some hints at the sequel in the Dead Space Remake, so the idea is likely on the minds of the developers. For those who are unaware, The Sprawl on Titan is a location from Dead Space 2. They contain a conversation between two characters from the game, and they specifically mention looking for new employment and working at the Sprawl on Titan. These new text logs will appear after completing the remake and loading a New Game Plus save. This comes in the form of some text logs that weren't originally there in the old game. ![]() While there isn't any concrete evidence of a Dead Space 2 remake just yet, some fans speculate that we may have been given an easter egg in the Dead Space Remake that might elude to its arrival. EA Hints Towards A Possible Dead Space 2 Remake All of this makes it far more likely to warrant a sequel, especially if the developers can iron out some of the kinks that the original Dead Space 2 had and improve on them with modern technology. (Picture: EA)Īlthough the game hasn't sold as many copies as the company's recent and more original dive into the atmospheric horror genre, The Callisto Protocol, the Dead Space Remake is outperforming it in terms of reviews and public reception, and its sales figures aren't bad at all. But now that it's proven itself as a title that can still pull big numbers, will EA bring the entire Trilogy back from the dead? Based on the success of the recent Dead Space Remake, it's quite possible we may receive a Dead Space 2 Remake in the future. As it currently stands, there is no official word from EA regarding the possibility of a Dead Space 2 remake, which makes sense given that the first remake was only just released and the company likely wanted to wait and see how well it performed.
